Here is part 2 for you to help your pumpkin grow.
For nice even looking fruits, carefully rotate them as they develop and harden to avoid flattening. Place plywood underneath the developing pumpkins to help prevent rot due to contact with the soil.
Pumpkins require sunlight to harden or cure the shell.
When your fruit is developing but still soft and small, try lightly drawing your name into the skin and watch it grow with the pumpkin.
